WHAT WE BELIEVE

GOD

We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each have distinct personalities but possess the same attributes and perfections.

Gen 1:1, Gen 1:26, Ps 145:3, Matt 28:19, John 4:24, John 10:30, Rom. 3:26, Rom 8:15, I Cor 1:21, II Cor. 13:14, I John 1:5, I John 4:8

JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is fully God and fully man, having been born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life in order to become the sacrifice for us. He was crucified, died a physical death on the cross, and was bodily resurrected three days later. In doing so He conquered death and became the substitutionary sacrifice for us. He ascended to heaven where He remains at the right hand of God until He comes again.

Mark 13:32-33, John 1:1-2, I Cor. 15:1-6, Eph 1:20-23, Heb.1:1-9, I John 5:20, John 14:6

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He works in and through all believers at the point of faith in Christ and empowers and instructs those yielded to God.

Matt. 28:19; John 16:7-11, Rom. 8:9-11, I Cor. 2:12-13, I Cor. 6:19, Eph. 4:30, Titus 3:5-6

THE BIBLE

The Bible is comprised of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. These scriptures comprise the complete, inspired word of God, written through human authors. We believe they are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the foundation of our faith and the final authority for Christians.

Deut 4:2, Ps 119:89, Proverbs 30:5-6, John 17:17, II Tim. 3:16-17, II Pet. 1:20-21

MAN

We believe man was created in the image and likeness of God. Through Adam’s sin, all mankind fell into sin and inherited a sinful nature. Because of this sinful nature, man became separated from God and subject to eternal punishment and separation from Him. To be eternally separated from God is Hell.

Gen. 1:26-27, Rom. 2:2-5, Rom 3:23, Eph 2:1-3

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God, resulting in eternal life in communion with Him. Salvation results from one’s personal faith and belief that Jesus Christ lived the perfect life we could not live, suffered and died to pay the complete penalty we could not pay, and was bodily resurrected on the third day in victory over sin and death. This faith results in one becoming a new creation in Jesus Christ. This gift is offered through God’s free grace and is not the result in whole or in part of man’s works, deeds, or goodness.

Matt 26:28, John 3:16-18, Acts 4:12, Rom 5:8-11, Rom 6:23, Eph 2:4-10, I Cor 1:21 John 3:3-8, II Cor 5:16-21

CHURCH

The local Church is a gathering of those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior, joined together in love to worship God, nurture believers, and reach non-believers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The universal church is the company of all believers, unified by the Holy Spirit into one body. Its mission is to preach the Gospel to all nations.

Matt 16:18, Luke 6:35-36, Acts 2:47, I Cor. 12:27, Eph. 1:22-23, Eph 4:11-16, Eph 5:25-27, Col 3:16-17

ORDINANCES

The Bible sets forth two ordinances (or decrees), the Lord’s Supper and water baptism. Communion is to be celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ’s death on the cross, and in expectation of His return. Community Fellowship believes communion is open to any believer in Jesus Christ.

Water baptism is an outward testimony of a person’s belief in Christ. Immersion is the replicated means set forth in Scripture. The decision to be baptized by water can only be made by a believing individual and is not required for salvation but instead is a public and outward testimony of it.

Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 8:12,36-38; 9:18; 10:47; I Cor. 11:23-26

MARRIAGE

We believe that God intentionally creates each person as biologically male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Genesis 1:26-27

We believe in the Biblical definition of marriage as existing only between one man and one woman united in a covenant agreement before God. The Bible is the sole authority on issues for marriage, the family, and sexual relationships that should only take place within the bounds of marriage. We also believe that marriage is illustrative of the relationship between Christ and the Church.
